Download or read book The Selfless Mind written by Peter Harvey and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-09-13 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This careful analysis of early Buddhist thought opens out a perspective in which no permanent Self is accepted, but a rich analysis of changing and potent mental processes is developed. It explores issues relating to the not-Self teaching: self-development, moral responsibility, the between-lives period, and the 'undetermined questions' on the world, on the 'life principle' and on the liberated one after death. It examines the 'person' as a flowing continuity centred on consciousness or discernment (vinnana) configured in changing minds-sets (cittas). The resting state of this is seen as 'brightly shining' - like the 'Buddha nature' of Mahayana thought - so as to represent the potential for Nirvana. Nirvana is then shown to be a state in which consciousness transcends all objects, and thus participates in a timeless, unconditioned realm.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this third edition of The Triadic Structure of the Mind, Francesco Belfiore begins from the basic ontological conception of the structure and functioning of the “mind” or “spirit” as an evolving, conscious triad composed of intellect, sensitiveness, and power, each exerting a selfish and a moral activity. Based on this original concept of the triadic, bidirectional and evolving mind, Belfiore has developed a coherent philosophical system, through which he offers fresh solutions in the fields of ontology, knowledge, language, aesthetics, ethics, politics, and law. The present third edition, like the previous one, includes an extensive treatment of the topics addressed as well as the quotation of the views of the major thinkers, whose thought has been discussed and reinterpreted. In addition, new concepts have been introduced, some passages have been clarified, and the style has been improved in several points. The result is an original and exhaustive book, which will be of interest to all philosophy scholars.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "We all have the same human mind - each and every one of us has the same potential. Our surroundings and so forth are important, but the nature of mind itself is more important... To live a happy and joyful life, we must take care of our minds." - His Holiness the Dalai Lama At the heart of this book is The Wish-Fulfilling Jewel of the Oral Tradition, an accessible and nonsectarian treatise on penetrating the nature of mind by Khonton Peljor Lhundrub, a teacher of the Fifth Dalai Lama. His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama's broad-ranging overview of this work insightfully distills some of the most central themes of Buddhism: why the mind is so essential to the tradition, what distinguishes the levels of consciousness, and how different schools of Tibetan Buddhism elaborate those distinctions. Profound and erudite, it brings the reader closer to a fresh and direct experience of Buddhism's central truths. Along with his lucid translations, Jose Cabezon provides an introduction to the root text and presentations of the life and works of Khonton Rinpoche, all richly annotated.

Book excerpt: All Is Mind is one of the rarest books, attempting to unfold mysteries of human mind and of the universe. It deeply looks into new, delighting, and intellect-blasting Skolimowskian philosophy of the participatory mind, which truly represents the crux of evolution, the climax of evolution, the absolute beauty of evolution, the soul of evolution, and the true spirit that evolution seems striving to instil into human beings for the perfection of their own evolution, and for the deep and real purpose of evolution itself. Presenting the most extraordinary aspect of life-the human mind-the book extraordinarily explains how the mind conceives, processes, chisels, shapes, and reshapes everything and every phenomenon it encounters; how it creates reality; how it attempts to explore everything out there; how, through its outreach tentacles, it creates a sphere of its own-the noosphere; how it goes on extending the limits of the noosphere; and many more thoughts, concepts, theories, and philosophies encompassing the all-creative, wonderful, and not yet fully understood mind. The mind in the book emerges as an epic of the evolution itself. The book attempts to transcend all previous theories of evolution, and it reveals how the mind can help us reach the stars.

"Mind Over Mat" will provide new perspective and options. You will first identify the primary feeling or emotion that is holding you back from achieving your objectives. Using the illustrations, you can identify the underlying imbalance and select from a variety of activities to create balance and achieve success. Here are some examples: - Once you shift from insecurity to confidence you will then find it is much easier to tackle big goals like finding a new job or relationship. - Once you shift from feeling sluggish or apathetic to energetic you will find you have a renewed passion for all goals including health and wellness. - Let's say you've been really working at achieving your goal and are not getting the results you want. If you feel frustrated or disappointed you will learn how to find a new source of stamina by first taking time to relax, center and regroup. Sometimes the best thing you can do is to stop multi-tasking and focus. Once you achieve more positive feelings and have some fun with "Mind Over Mat" you can move on to Jenny's other two books, which will provide a more pragmatic approach to achieving your goals. "Four Steps to a Better Life" (2007) and "Yen Path: Taking Steps Towards What You Want in Life" (2011) will be referenced throughout this book to help guide you every step of the way towards real transformation.
