Angel, who is now queen of an elfin nation and mother to twins herself, is unfortunately confronted with evil once again. In Angel's mind, her sister, Alison, died when the shadowy consciousness in Ahriman transformed her into Stormy. Still, their sisterly bond is not easily broken and Angel misses her tremendously. But when Stormy bombs the elfin haven, Krikor, with a doomsday bomb, Angel must contemplate killing her sister to destroy the evil once and for all. While on a journey to consult with the Ancient Ones, things go from bad to worse when Stormy suddenly kidnaps Angel's twins. Aided by her husband and elf lord, Avery Soren, as well as her trusted badgercat and dwarf friend, Angel embarks on a quest to destroy the evil in an attempt to rescue her children and her sister from a fate worse than death. In this continuing young adult saga, time disappears as an elfin queen finds the power within to confront dangerous dilemmas and free her family and her nation from the darkness of evil.

Book excerpt: Tracing the Evidence: Dinah in Post-Hebrew Bible Literature examines the post-biblical literary developments of Dinah, the daughter of Leah and Jacob. According to Genesis 34, Dinah was sexually violated by Shechem; however, there are gaps in the biblical narrative and little written about what happened to her after the fateful time. Tracing the Evidence considers how post-Hebrew Bible traditions have filled in some of those gaps. Some traditions give more information about her day-to-day life, how old she was when Shechem met her, and various details about her subsequent marriage(s) and children.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1887, this early work of comparative mythology remains a vital resource to students and devotees of ethnography, history, and world legends. Lang's stunningly comprehensive overview of pre-scientific thinking provides an important perspective on the worldviews that molded and continue to influence modern thought. It is presented here as an omnibus edition. In volume one, Lang describes the differences between mythology and religion, discusses the problems of seeking the origins of the belief in a deity, and examines totemism, nature myths, and creation stories from around the globe. Volume two explores the concept of the "the divine" as it has manifested itself around the world, examines the importance of ritual, and delves particularly into the mythologies of ancient Egypt, Greece, Mexico, and India to demonstrate how imaginative ideas about gods have shaped humanity. Scottish journalist and author ANDREW LANG (1844-1912), a friend of Robert Louis Stevenson, produced a stunning variety and number of volumes, including books of poetry, novels, children's books, histories, and biographies, as well as criticism, essays, scholarly works of anthropology, and translations of classical literature.

This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Given the powerful and forthright title of Andrew Dickson White's classic study, it is best to make clear his own sense of the whole as given in the original 1896 edition: "My conviction is that science, though it has evidently conquered dogmatic theology based on biblical texts and ancient modes of thought, will go hand in hand with religion, and that although theological control will continue to diminish, religion as seen in the recognition of a 'power in the universe, not ourselves, which makes for righteousness' and in the love of God and of our neighbor, will steadily grow stronger and stronger, not only in the American institutions of learning, but in the world at large." White began to assemble his magnum opus, a two volume work first published in 1896 as A History of the Warfare of Science with Theology in Christendom. In correspondence he wrote that he intended the work to stake out a position between such religious orthodoxy as John Henry Newman's on one side and such secular scoffing as Robert Ingersoll's on the other. Historian Paul Carter declared that this book did as much as any other published work "toward routing orthodoxy in the name of science." Insofar as science and religion came to be widely viewed as enemies, with science holding the moral high ground, White inadvertently, became one of the most effective and influential advocates for unbelief.
