The result is not only sick organizations but bummed out, burnt out, and stressed out employees. An international award-winner in management and communications, Eli Sopow, PhD, proposes a solution. With his innovative method of dissecting an organization's "family tree," Sopow reveals exactly how to diagnose what makes a company sick and how to start healing it. He teaches you ways to pinpoint which corporate personality you're dealing with, how to effectively protest bad behavior, and how to create new trust within a decaying organization. Anyone involved with management will learn to implement ideas vital to the future success of their company, including changing the language of the work environment and motivating employees to be not only great workers, but great individuals. Free yourself and the organizations that matter to you from the diseases of dysfunction and apathy. It's already difficult to juggle all of the roles that we are playing, whether it's being a parent, a spouse, a business owner, a professional, or a caregiver. But having to fill these shoes and also tasking ourselves to worry about toxins, inflammation, and chronic illness? It seems impossible. Unfortunately, ignoring these problems is not going to make them go away. If anything, they're becoming more predominant the longer we bury our heads in the sand. We have skyrocketing obesity rates in today's children. Type 2 diabetes is on the rise in our kids, and this used to be considered an adult-onset disease. We are setting our children up to live a shorter, sicker lifespan than us because we are not taking the time to feed them what they need; we are only focusing on what's convenient. We don't know how to nourish their growing bodies, or how to set them up for health instead of illness. Convenience is killing our kids. It's a slow path to wellness, especially when you're dragging screaming kids with you. But it's possible. And I can guarantee you that if you start taking steps toward health now, you will be able to set your family up with good habits for life. This book: -Identifies foods that help to heal various chronic illnesses -Reveals how you can change your child's tastes to prefer healthy foods -Discusses the relationship between your diet and your immune system; and how to fix it -Provides knowledge you need to begin healing your body naturally, eliminating toxins, and setting up your family for a healthy future. Their habits are forming now. Don't you want those lifelong habits to be good ones?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Divorce -- ouch! This is one of the most emotionally challenging experiences one has to deal with in life. Especially if you're not the party who initiated the proceedings. Especially if it comes with a few unpleasant surprises about new lovers, child custody, financial obligations and the like. Getting your life reorganized is challenging enough, but it is made far more difficult by the emotional rollercoaster one has to ride at the same time. Thanks to my background in clinical psychology and my long involvement with spiritual, social, and personal growth movements, I, your esteemed author, was able to navigate the ending of my own relationship with a fair amount of insight and awareness. Within the first few weeks it became apparent that the various hurts, angers, and other emotional difficulties all centered around a dozen or so basic issues. By keeping aware of these issues and the psychological principles at work behind them, I found I was less likely to be ambushed by feelings like rage, depression, shame, and insecurity. Further, I was able to keep the normal sadness, hurt, and anger down to manageable proportions. As a result, my "ex" and I had virtually a textbook model breakup (well OK, dividing the home sale proceeds was a little bumpy, but other than that...), and we now get along far better than when we were together. Along the way, it helped me to write up my various struggles and breakthroughs, and now I hope these experiences and insights will help you. In addition, with psychotherapy now averaging about $100 per session, this information may save you several thousand dollars! So if you are struggling through a divorce or other traumatic loss, I'm here to tell you that it can be survived, that you can avoid becoming stuck in counterproductive patterns of thought and feeling, and that the suffering you are experiencing can be kept to a manageable level. Divorce may not be fun, but it doesn't have to be agony! Moreover, by going through this process with awareness, you will become a larger person, better prepared for your next life adventure. So take heart! -Bill Miller

In Primal Prescription, authors Doug McGuff, MD and Robert P. Murphy, PhD, combine their expertise in economics and medicine to offer a shocking, disturbing, and ultimately enlightening view into America's health care system. You'll discover the real history of what went wrong with U.S. health care and insurance, and why current efforts to clean up the mess are only making things worse. But far from leaving you feeling helpless at the dismal--and sometimes deadly--state of affairs, Primal Prescription equips you with both the knowledge to understand the health care conundrum and the tools for navigating your way out of it. McGuff and Murphy offer an evidence-based "game plan" for taking control of your own medical care, protecting yourself and your loved ones regardless of what the future holds for the rest of the nation. Whether you're currently tangled in America's broken health care system or simply trying to avoid its clutches, Primal Prescription is a must-have resource for taking your health into your own hands. -- Doug McGuff, MD, and Robert Murphy, Ph.D

Download or read book Embracing the Journey written by Greg McDonald and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2019-03-05 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A sympathetic, compassionate, and inspiring guide for parents—from the founders of one of the first Christian ministries for parents of LGBTQ children. Greg and Lynn McDonald had never interacted with members of the LGBTQ community until they discovered that their son was gay. Without resources or support, they had no idea how to come to terms with this discovery. At first they tried to “fix” him, to no avail. But even in the earliest days of their journey, the McDonalds clung to two absolutes: they would love God, and they would love their son. “An essential resource for Christian parents of LGBTQ kids,” (Matthew Vines, Executive Director of The Reformation Project) this book follows the McDonald family’s journey over the next twenty years, from a place of grief to a place of gratitude and acceptance that led the McDonalds to start one of the first Christian ministries for parents of LGBTQ children. Based on their experience from counseling and coaching hundreds of struggling Christian parents, they offer tools for understanding your own emotional patterns and spiritual challenges. They also help you experience a deeper relationship with God while handling difficult or unexpected situations that are out of your control. You will discover tested principles, patterns, and spiritual lessons that can change the way we all see our families, and help Christians at large think through Christ-like ways to respond to the LGBTQ community. Written in an unvarnished, honest, reassuring, and relatable voice, this is a practical guide for parents and a roadmap to learning to love God, the people He created, and the church, even when they seem to be at odds.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ted Taylor, 1st Battalion, The Rifle Brigade, was sent to France in May 1940 as part of Calais Force. Initially sent to open up supply lines to the rapidly retreating BEF, they soon found themselves defending Calais against the might of the 10th Panzer Division. Outnumbered by at least three to one they held out for 4 days until they ran out of ammunition and were forced to surrender. For the next five years Ted found himself part of the huge slave labour force in Poland under the administration of Stalag XXA and Stalag XXB. Life in the POW camps bore little resemblance to the cheerful films of the 1950s with casual brutality never far from the surface. As 1945 began and the war entered its final bloody phase, the POWs dared to believe that at last they might be going home. But fate had one more cruel trick to play.As the Russians approached rapidly from the east, the terrified Germans evacuated the camps and, in temperatures below -25c, began marching the malnourished, poorly-clothed POWs back across Europe. The infamous 'death marches' to freedom across the frozen, chaotic, war ravaged landscape of Eastern Europe had begun.
