Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Humans tend to think and react in predetermined ways to trigger words, trigger situations and rituals, though the trigger and the reaction may have no apparent or logical interrelationships whatsoever. Seeing through such conditioned responses is the aim and purpose of this work. Thanks to our long gestation period, human beings are the most conditioned of animals. Though conditioning is very useful in most situations-for example, in learning how to dress-some conditioning, like racism, warps our minds and leads to avoidable conflicts and conflagrations. Author Xavier William believes that this distorted or warped conditioning is evident in many aspects of ordinary life, including: · Economics and politics · Ethics, morals and values · Religions and Superstitions · Traditions and taboos · Alternate medicines · Environmental issues · Sex and family relationships World Religions, True Beliefs And New Age Spirituality seeks to decondition and dewarp our minds from harmful doctrines, dogmas, and Parental and ethnic conditioning. In so doing, William argues, that violence and bloodshed can be significantly reduced or even eradicated. By employing clear-think and self-talk techniques, human beings can steer clear off the ruts of habitual or rhythmic thinking. With the rare insights in World Religions, True Beliefs And New Age Spirituality, people from seemingly incompatible ethnic backgrounds can build win-win relationships and a better world for all.

Summary Book Review False Dawn :

Download or read book False Dawn written by Lee Penn and published by Sophia Perennis. This book was released on 2004 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The interfaith movement, which began with the 1893 World¿s Parliament of Religions in Chicago, has grown worldwide. Although this movement has been largely unknown to the public, it now provides a spiritual face for globalization, the economic and political forces leading us all from nationalism to ¿One World¿. The most ambitious organization in today¿s interfaith movement is the United Religions Initiative (URI), founded by William Swing, the Episcopal Bishop of California. Investigative reporter Lee Penn, a Catholic ex-Marxist, exhaustively documents the history and beliefs of the URI and its New Age and globalist allies, the vested interests that support these movements, and the direction they appear to be taking. The interfaith movement is no longer merely the province of a coterie of little-heeded religious idealists with grandiose visions. The URI¿s proponents have ranged from billionaire George Soros to President George W. Bush, from the far-right Rev. Sun Myung Moon to the liberal Catholic theologian Hans Küng, and from the Dalai Lama to the leaders of government-approved Protestant churches in the People¿s Republic of China. The interfaith movement, including the URI, is being promoted by globalist and New Age reformers who favor erosion of national sovereignty, marginalization of traditional religions, establishment of ¿global governance¿, and creation of a new, Earth-based ¿global spirituality¿¿in effect, a one-world religion. Therefore, the URI and the interfaith movement are poised to become the spiritual foundation of the New World Order: the ¿new civilization¿ now proposed by Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union. In The Reign of Quantity and the Signs of the Times, French metaphysician René Guénon spoke of the ¿anti-tradition¿ (the forces of materialism and secular humanism) finally giving way to the ¿counter-tradition¿ (the satanic inversion of true spirituality), leading to the regime of Antichrist. The ¿anti-tradition¿ weakens and dissolves traditional spiritualities, after which the ¿counter-tradition¿ sets up a counterfeit in their place. Since Guénon¿s time, as is well known, anti-traditional forces have greatly advanced worldwide. It is less well-known that counter-traditional movements have also made great strides, and now stand closer to the centers of global political and religious power than ever before. The ¿counter-tradition¿ is making inroads on the political and cultural Right, as much as it is doing on the Left. False Dawn painstakingly documents these trends, and speculates on their future development. In so doing, the author takes investigative reporting to the threshold of prophecy, and gives us a stunningly plausible picture of the global religious landscape of the 21st century. This extraordinary project is the literary equivalent of turning over a flat rock. There is much to be seen and learned here¿all of it unsettling, disquieting, occasionally downright scary. ¿William Murchison, Radford Distinguished Professor, Baylor University When a bishop of a Christian church happily worships alongside a Wiccan invoking other gods, something has gone horribly wrong. In False Dawn, Lee Penn has produced a comprehensive and critical history of the United Religions Initiative. This book sounds a clear warning: Anyone who makes theological truth subservient to utopianism denigrates all religions. ¿Douglas LeBlanc, Editor, GetReligion.org

This book was released on 2021-04-08 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This anthropological work thoroughly illustrates the novel synthesis of Christian religion and New Age spirituality in Greece. It challenges the single-faith approach that traditionally ties southern European countries to Christianity and focuses on how processes of globalization influence and transform vernacular religiosity. Based on long-term anthropological fieldwork in Greece, this book demonstrates how the popular belief in the 'evil eye' produces a creative affinity between religion and spirituality in everyday practice. The author analyses a variety of significant research themes, including lived and vernacular religion, alternative spirituality and healing, ritual performance and religious material culture. The book offers an innovative social scientific interpretation of contemporary religiosity, while engaging with a multiplicity of theoretical, analytic and empirical directions. It contributes to current key debates in social sciences with regard to globalization and secularization, religious pluralism, contemporary spirituality and the New Age movement, gender, power and the body, health, illness and alternative therapeutic systems, senses, perception and the supernatural, the spiritual marketplace, creativity and the individualization of religion in a multicultural world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New Age and holistic beliefs and practices - sometimes called the "new spirituality" - are widely distributed across modern global society. The fluid and popular nature of new age makes these movements a very challenging field to understand using traditional models of religious analysis. Rather than treating new age as an exotic specimen on the margins of 'proper' religion, "New Age Spirituality" examines these movements as a form of everyday or lived religion. The book brings together an international range of scholars to explore the key issues: insight, healing, divination, meditation, gnosis, extraordinary experiences, and interactions with gods, spirits and superhuman powers. Combining discussion of contemporary beliefs and practices with cutting-edge theoretical analysis, the book repositions new age spirituality at the forefront of the contemporary study of religion.

Book excerpt: A militant Marxist atheist and a “Radical Orthodox” Christian theologian square off on everything from the meaning of theology and Christ to the war machine of corporate mafia. “What matters is not so much that Žižek is endorsing a demythologized, disenchanted Christianity without transcendence, as that he is offering in the end (despite what he sometimes claims) a heterodox version of Christian belief.”—John Milbank “To put it even more bluntly, my claim is that it is Milbank who is effectively guilty of heterodoxy, ultimately of a regression to paganism: in my atheism, I am more Christian than Milbank.”—Slavoj Žižek In this corner, philosopher Slavoj Žižek, a militant atheist who represents the critical-materialist stance against religion's illusions; in the other corner, “Radical Orthodox” theologian John Milbank, an influential and provocative thinker who argues that theology is the only foundation upon which knowledge, politics, and ethics can stand. In The Monstrosity of Christ, Žižek and Milbank go head to head for three rounds, employing an impressive arsenal of moves to advance their positions and press their respective advantages. By the closing bell, they have not only proven themselves worthy adversaries, they have shown that faith and reason are not simply and intractably opposed. Žižek has long been interested in the emancipatory potential offered by Christian theology. And Milbank, seeing global capitalism as the new century's greatest ethical challenge, has pushed his own ontology in more political and materialist directions. Their debate in The Monstrosity of Christ concerns the future of religion, secularity, and political hope in light of a monsterful event—God becoming human. For the first time since Žižek's turn toward theology, we have a true debate between an atheist and a theologian about the very meaning of theology, Christ, the Church, the Holy Ghost, Universality, and the foundations of logic. The result goes far beyond the popularized atheist/theist point/counterpoint of recent books by Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, and others. Žižek begins, and Milbank answers, countering dialectics with “paradox.” The debate centers on the nature of and relation between paradox and parallax, between analogy and dialectics, between transcendent glory and liberation. Slavoj Žižek is a philosopher and cultural critic. He has published over thirty books, including Looking Awry, The Puppet and the Dwarf, and The Parallax View (these three published by the MIT Press). John Milbank is an influential Christian theologian and the author of Theology and Social Theory: Beyond Secular Reason and other books. Creston Davis, who conceived of this encounter, studied under both Žižek and Milbank.

Book excerpt: "YOUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY" (Spiritual Trilogy Book 1: Spiritual awakening and your spiritual journey, in love and light). Written by SUZI OBELISK. Volume 11, 2nd edition. Book series: SUZI OBELISK BOOKS. This is the new Book 1 of my Spiritual Trilogy. This book will help you with a holistic spiritual approach. The Steps on the spiritual path are sacred and ancient knowledge. The subtle details of each Step on the Path are woven into ancient wisdom, and taught from teacher to student in the strictest confidentiality as the student is ready. As with all of my writing, I believe and feel that the best way to find the truth is to search for it yourself. You need to find the truth that's the most authentic for YOU. Follow your heart, use your head, and be true to you. In this beautiful book we talk about the meaning of life, your Life Review, your inner nature, higher energy, world religions, ancient wisdom discoveries, cosmic influences, and Astrological Ages. We talk about old souls, indigo children, the still small voice within, inner strength, who to talk to, and the secret key to moving forwards on your spiritual journey. We look at the different stages of spiritual awakening as your light energy increases to a higher level, help for the symptoms, heart opening, putting it all together, and much more. This Spiritual Trilogy is different because I know that there's truly a spiritual world with help, comfort, and guidance that's available to everybody. One day I lost consciousness and I died suddenly. It was all over in an instant. But "I" was still there. Then I found myself in the presence of something greater. Then I was given the choice as to whether I wished to return to life. But it was on the condition that I resume my holistic book writing. I know for certain that it wasn't me who was giving myself that choice. Then the moment that I decided to return, I found myself back in my body, fully conscious, and alive again. As a result of that experience, I know that the earthly concept of how to describe that greater power isn't important. You might see the greater power as a natural order to the Universe, or through a particular religion, or a spiritual belief, your inner world, consciousness, energy, meditation, metaphysics, New Age, ancient wisdom, science, philosophy, theosophy, theology, or in other explanations of the cosmos, our existence, and the spiritual plane. Maybe you've had your own personal experiences and proof. However you see this, there's a meaning to life. We're all here for a greater purpose. You don't really die. You can't take the material stuff with you, because it's not possible. There's a Life Review at the end, and we're all going somewhere else. You create the rest of your life, and also your afterlife, based on what you do now. Where you go with your spiritual journey is up to you. This beautiful book will help you. Be true to your authentic self. You can build on what you're doing, at any time. SPIRITUAL TRILOGY by SUZI OBELISK: Help for your entire spiritual journey. Book 1: Your Spiritual Journey; Book 2: Feed Your Soul, Nurture Your Heart; Book 3: The Spiritual Path. REVIEW: "This book is a great help for your spiritual journey. M.D.".
